“We believe that seaweed might just hold the answer to the world’s growing food crisis.”

The population is estimated to reach 9.6 billion by 2050. The FAO has reported that mankind will need to produce 70% more food than it did in 2009. Agriculture has had over a hundred years of industrialization to surpass global food supply expectations. Yet, we have become a population dependent on GMO mono-crop culture.

A health diet is rich in fiber, whole fruits and vegetables, “good” or unsaturated fat, and omega-3 fatty acids. These dietary components turn down inflammation, which can damage tissue, joint, artery walls, and organs. Going easy on processed foods is another element of healthy eating. Sweets, foods made with highly refined grains, and sugar-sweetened beverages can cause spikes in blood sugar that can lead to early hunger. High blood sugar is linked to the development of diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and even dementia. Physical activity is also necessary for good health. It can greatly reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, breast and colon cancer, depression, and falls. Physical activity improves sleep, endurance, and even sex.

Nutrition is more than just one aspect of good health. Undernutrition has an irreversible effect on a child’s IQ and ability to concentrate in school, fight off disease and achieve economic advancement. In developing countries, malnutrition imposes a heavy burden on strained health systems and results in a significant loss to economic productivity and mortality.

Seaweeds are a source for many important applications and the demand for the biomass is growing rapidly. The global seaweed market is currently worth about USD 8 billion a year and grows at an annual rate of 8%. On a global scale, the commercial seaweed market is projected to grow from $15.01 billion in 2021 to $24.92 billion in 2028 at a CAGR of 7.51%, making it one of the most promising products in the seafood industry. The seaweed industry provides a wide variety of products that have an estimated total annual value of US$ 5.5-6 billion. Food products for human consumption contribute about US$ 5 billion of this.

Our partner Seakura of Israel are at the technological frontier of land-based seaweed cultivation since 2007. They are pioneers in the field of sustainable marine aquaculture in Israel and have developed advanced technologies that allow land-based seaweed to flourish, respecting the natural environment through a sustainable ecosystem that supports the oceans, its inhabitants and our wellbeing,

The seaweed produced by this technological process has a number of advantages namely; high yield as high as 250 Mt/ha per year wet compare with 5 – 100Mt/ha per year for others, optimal nutritional values, compliant with stringent regulation, a closely monitored, fully controllable it can be enriched with additional nutritional fibers, proteins or minerals. The process is continuous throughout the year, and less dependent on seasonal temperature fluctuations in the sea. Pond cultivation is almost totally mechanized, while cultivation in the sea is labor-intensive environment, year-round cultivation (9 production circles), not reliant upon availability of arable land or fresh water. Regulatory paper trail including EU, USDA organic, BRC, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Vegan Friendly, GMO free & Kosher, Environmentally sustainable, From harvesting to immediate packaging.
